Pay It Forward Tutors

We have two teen tutoring groups as we end the school year that are earning service hours. One is through Meghan M. and they know to come to the Ref desk to sign in for their hours. They only do these sessions on Saturday afternoons, and it is almost over.

The second one is through Michelle, and it’s called Pay It Forward. They know to come to the GF desk to check in. There is a labeled binder at the desk they use to sign in and out. Please hand them the binder to do so. They come in during school days.

If you have any questions, please see Michelle or Meghan.

Friends of RPL — Community Fridge

The Friends of RPL will be stopping by after June 5 to drop off supplies for mocktails for our June 12 Sizzlers event. They will ask for the key at the GF desk, so please give it to them!

If you have anything in the Community Rooms fridge, please move it by June 5. Thank you!

Summer Sizzlers happens Fri. 6/12!

You may have seen Amy’s morning update highlighting Summer Sizzlers, our upcoming annual after-hours unofficial adult summer reading kickoff event.

This is great fun for patrons and staff alike where visitors hear speed-dating style book talks from RPL staff on some of the latest hot YA and Adult titles.

A few FAQs:

  • Friday, June 12, 7-9 pm (doors open at 6:30 – people encouraged to come early for best seating)
  • No registration required
  • Friends will have a cash bar for mocktails throughout the event

Please promote via word of mouth between now and June 12 as an unofficial summer reading kickoff event for adults that will feature fun book talks, mingling, refreshments, and raffled prizes.

A HUGE THANK YOU in advance to all of the staff who make this possible, from the readers to the day-of support folks, and especially the people in Tech, Reference, and Borrower Services dealing with the influx of hundreds of books and questions.

Any questions or concerns? Please send them along to Sara or Olivia.

Thank you for promoting this to our community!

Gettin’ Messy With It

Hi everyone! We’re having a Messtival in June and are looking for some supplies to help us have a fun, messy time:

  • Twister (but only if you’re okay with it being covered in shaving cream)
  • Towels you don’t mind us using to dry kids off
  • Used sand toys for a kinetic sandbox

If you’d like to donate any of these items please talk to someone in Children’s or bring them to the second floor!

Thanks!

2nd Floor Patio

Our patio upstairs has been open to the public since May 1st. There are chairs, a table, a kids table, and an umbrella ready to use.

Our Children’s Room is only for adults accompanying a child or an adult browsing the collection, but the patio is for anyone of any age to use (children must be accompanied by an adult). So please encourage folks to check it out for studying, reading, etc.

The patio garden will be planted 5/22 in case anyone asks. Our Plant Lab kids, teen volunteers, and others will help us maintain the garden this summer.
